DC++ Support

The forums are on hiatus for now.  Anyone visiting the site has noticed its lackluster (understatement) response time.  Although the response time is largely due to attacks targeting dcpp.net or the machine it is hosted on, some of the legitimately generated load is from the forum. I’ve taken it down to be kinder to our host. I’d like to apologize to the end users looking to get support who are inconvenienced by this action.

• Problems accessing hublist(s)

  Some of the preconfigured default hublists servers are down. Here's a list of alternate hublist servers which have worked recently.

• Set up DC++ for beginners

  Here is the DC++ beginners FAQ maintained by TheParanoidOne. You should find all basic settings and their explanations there. Also check the built-in Help of  DC++. Basic usage and all the settings are pretty much covered there.

• Any kind of connection problems

  If you have connection problems :

  • Ensure that DC++ can access the Internet. If you go to Help/About menu in DC++ you should see a number in the Latest Version box. Any other message means your DC++ blocked
  • Check your software firewall (if you have any) if it has DC++ in its allowed application list. If so, remove and readd DC++ again for sure. You can find info about configuring some popular firewall software here and here. Don't forget to check Windows firewall as well in case  you use WinXP SP1 or SP2 (howto)
  • Try search and download in passive mode first. If it works then
  • Check the FAQ how to set up active mode for better performance

• TLS related errors

  TLS is an experimental feature of DC++ so even if you see TLS related error messages they don't keep DC++ from working well. If something's not working you can be sure the error isn't TLS related so you must find the real solution of your problem.
